One area of the house that has not been featured on the site – until today – is our guest house! The detached, secondary unit was not finished when we purchased the property, and initially we struggled with what to do with the space. Should it be a pool house? A large office space? My dream walk-in closet? 🙂 Ultimately, we settled on a more practical solution, and decided to transform the space into an in-law unit for visiting friends and family.
After adding a bathroom and kitchenette to the unit (pictures coming soon) and knocking down a wall to open up the main room, our next challenge was how to decorate the large open space. The main house is very colorful and quirky, and we thought a cooler palette of blue and grey would feel different and more calming for overnight guests. I fell in love with this printed Ikat wallpaper and decided to run it across the entire wall behind the king bed. As for bedding, I was hoping to find something more timeless and classic to play off the wallpaper and was thrilled to come across the Spencer Border Bedding Collection from Lauren Ralph Lauren Home at Macy’s. The sham pillows and duvet cover are so simple and versatile, allowing us to switch it up from the striped sheets to the leaf printed sheets for two different looks. I am so smitten with how the two complement and complete the space – and obviously, Penny agrees!
While we wanted bedding that was classic and simple it was crucial that we found bedding that feels amazing for our guests. These all-cotton sheets are as comfortable as they are chic. When we bought our home, our hopes were that friends and family would come stay and help us make lifelong memories here. This bedding will hopefully give all of our guests the ‘best night of sleep ever’ feeling when they come and visit!
